I'm a writer, editor, and teacher, as well as a long-distance trekker and a lover of bitters. Born and raised in Berkeley, I currently live in Los Angeles, by way of Brooklyn & Minneapolis.
My fiction has received grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board and the Jerome Foundation, and I have been the happy recipient of residency fellowships at the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts, the Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts, and the Hambidge Center for the Creative Arts & Sciences.
I hold an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Minnesota, where I also received a graduate minor in Sustainable Agriculture Systems. I am currently a PhD student in English at UCLA, where I study contemporary U.S. literature, narrative theory, folklore, and science fiction/speculative fiction.
